Technology
PROVIDING CUTTING-EDGE RESULTS
Valley View invests in medically advanced equipment and technology to bring world-class care to the Roaring Fork Valley. Typically found in large metropolitan areas, the technology available to ValleyOrtho patients is transforming how surgeries are planned and performed. The technology additions to our orthopedic service line demonstrate our commitment to providing you with outstanding healthcare.
MAKO ROBOTIC ARM
The Mako Robotic Arm advancement transforms the way knee and hip replacements are performed. The treatment starts with a CT Scan and virtual 3D model of your joint. That model is then loaded into the Mako system software to create a surgical plan that is based specifically on your anatomy. When a Valley View orthopedic surgeon performs the operation, the robotic arm assists the surgeon to provide precise component placement and alignment of the knee. “Mako is changing the way joint replacement surgeries are performed by providing each patient with a personalized surgical experience based on their specific diagnosis and anatomy,” -Dr. Christopher George.
Providers who specialize in Mako:
- Chris George, MD
- Tomas Pevny, MD
EXACTECH GPS
ValleyOrtho is the first in the state to use Exactech GPS, computer-guided surgery assistance, for shoulder replacement. This technology helps our surgeons plan shoulder replacement surgeries with improved precision and accuracy. During your shoulder replacement procedure, Exactech will create and display a 3D anatomical model of your shoulder so your doctor can better visualize the procedure and make adjustments in real time.
JOINT INJECTION TECHNOLOGY
Our Orthopedic Surgeons and Physician Assistants use a variety of injectable medications, including Platelet-Rich Plasma, to provide pain relief or improved viscosity to sore joints. Platelet-Rich Plasma, or PRP, is an advanced injection option utilizing platelets from the patients own blood to help injuries heal faster.

Ultrasound guidance for joint injection is available at ValleyOrtho in order to provide precision guidance for joint injections in the most complex spaces.
TECHNOLOGY EXPERTISE
Advanced technology is only as useful as the surgeons behind it. Each surgeon in the Valley View family has trained extensively in the technology in which they specialize, and many are setting the technology standards. This combination of technology and medical knowledge brings better care to all patients in The Roaring Fork Valley.
