About Tessa
Teresa Johnson, MD is a hospitalist at Valley View, working with acute care and critical care patients as well as providing consultation for surgical specialties and cardiology. She earned her doctor of medicine from the University of Colorado, then went on to finish her internal medicine residency there in 2020. Prior to that, she studied across a number of diverse fields from media studies to biology, chemistry and physics.
Dr. Johnson came to the Roaring Fork Valley so she could treat patients in a small, diverse community. “We see every kind of patient, from every social and economic sphere,” she says. “I get to meet all kinds of people, and that’s what drives my interest in medicine at the end of the day.”
The fast pace of her work also ignites Dr. Johnson’s passion. “The flow of it is so fast, and you get to see the results of your decisions in real time,” she says. “Not to mention the teamwork aspect—as hospitalists, we work closely with each other and with our nurses, social workers and case managers. it’s a constant team sport, and we’re all in it together to make our patients well and keep them that way. I love that collaborative aspect of medicine so much.”
When she isn’t treating patients, Dr. Johnson enjoys all the outdoor recreation the Roaring Fork Valley has to offer—biking, hiking, and the rest—as well as exploring her proverbial backyard. “There are so many beautiful places to see all around Colorado and Utah, you don’t have to go far to find them!”
