About Saeed
Dr. Saeed Ally is a Cardiothoracic Surgeon at the Heart & Vascular Center at Valley View. He earned his medical degree from Ross University in Dominica and trained in General Surgery at The Graduate Hospital affiliated with the University of Pennsylvania. He completed his residency in General Surgery at the University of Kansas Medical Center and finished his fellowship in Cardiothoracic Surgery at University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas.
Dr. Ally has had a long and notable career in cardiothoracic surgery. He was first in private practice in Texas, followed by surgery positions in Fargo, N. Dak. and Appleton, Wisc. Most recently he was chief of cardiothoracic surgery at the Carle Foundation Hospital at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. During this time, he was also an associate professor of surgery at the University of Illinois and director of the ECMO program.
At Valley View, Dr. Ally will focus on adding new services to the Heart & Vascular Center and assist with continuing to grow its cardiac surgery program.
“At Valley View I will add more complex cardiac surgeries. I will also add robotic lung surgery and vascular surgery,” he says. “By adding these service lines, we can better serve the community, and patients won’t have to travel distances to get sophisticated surgical care.”
Complex heart care is the focus of Dr. Ally’s practice, particularly aortic surgery, aortic aneurysm surgery and mitral valve repair and replacement. “These are complex surgeries which take a special skill set to perform,” he says. “Often patients with these disease processes are dramatically ill. To be able to give someone a better quality of life is very rewarding.”
Originally from Texas, Dr. Ally is a resident to the Roaring Fork Valley, where he likes hiking and exploring the surrounding natural landscape. Outside of his medical practice, Dr. Ally advocates for environmental cleanliness and, in particular, eliminating solid waste pollution. Dr. Ally also holds a degree in engineering and is actively engaged in, and continues to work on personal, non-medical projects aimed at eliminating environmental pollution globally.
