Matt has been with Valley View since 2000. He began in the laboratory and in 2013 moved into oncology at the Calaway-Young Cancer Center at Valley View, caring for patients with complex care needs, including those undergoing chemotherapy and radiation therapy treatments. Matt also established Valley View Hospital’s Palliative Care program providing treatment and counseling to patients with serious and life-limiting disease. He brought his extensive experience to The Lung Center in 2024.
“I want my patients to be thinking about what it means to live their best life right now,” says Matt. “I provide them the room to consider that and help them achieve it.”
At The Lung Center, Matt will provide particular focus on patients with chronic lung maladies such as asthma, COPD and sleep apnea. He will also treat patients with acute infections such as Covid and pneumonia. “While many of these illnesses are not curable,” he says, “they are manageable, and I am here to get my patients back on their feet and to keep going.”
When not caring for patients, Matt is an avid woodworker, crafting guitars and furniture by hand in his home woodshop. He is also a musician and has been playing music in the Roaring Fork Valley for more than 20 years.
