About Heather
Heather Babcock is a physician assistant at Valley View. She completed her master’s degree in physician assistant studies at Missouri State University in 2014, having previously attained her bachelor’s degree in music business and working in customer service, marketing and sales. As a young musician, Heather earned a full undergraduate scholarship to the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville to play the flute in the college marching band while pursuing her undergraduate education.
Today Heather works primarily as a hospitalist and emergency room provider, and still relies on the skills that made her an excellent musician. “I played the flute for many years, and that ear for music still helps me when I’m listening for heart murmurs and and paying attention to close detail,” she says. “It’s a small thing, but every bit of skill is an asset to my patients and makes me better at my job.”
Heather sees patient advocacy as the centerpiece of her mission as a healthcare provider. “My whole career is built upon working for my patients, from financial services to interactions with staff in the ER,” she says. “Accountability is so important in our field, and I’m always working to hold myself to the highest possible standard. Luckily, I work with an amazing team, and I see that same dedication in my colleagues every day. It’s an amazing group to work with.”
Heather is a proud mom to two daughters, ages 13 and 4, who double as her favorite travel companions. “Having the honor to be their mother and mentor is the best blessing ever,” she says. They enjoy spending time outdoors together, satisfying their sense of adventure while skiing, biking and hiking the remote trails that crisscross the Roaring Fork Valley.
