About Geoffroy
Dr. Geoffroy Fauchet is a hospitalist at Valley View, working primarily with patients admitted to the Intensive Care and Acute Care units. He has been with Valley View since earning his doctorate in medicine from the University of Colorado and completing his residency in internal medicine there in 2019. While in the program, he led multiple quality improvement projects, completed leadership training, and supervised other residents on outpatient and inpatient medical services.
After getting married in 2015 and spending medical school in Denver, Dr. Fauchet and his wife decided that small-town living in the Rocky Mountains might be more their speed. “I thought that a smaller community, where we lived among our patients and coworkers, would provide this personal connection, and it really does,” he says. “I often treat members of the same family, people I work with, and other folks I know from outside of work, which makes my work so much more personal.”
“In a smaller hospital, I also get to practice at the very top of my expertise,” he says. “I see a lot of rarer disease presentations because our staff is smaller, and as such we get to practice across the whole medical gamut. We get to implement new systems and evidence-based care changes very quickly too, which you don’t get to do in larger hospitals.”
Dr. Fauchet and his wife have a five-year-old son and live in Glenwood Springs. In his spare time, he enjoys long-distance running and scuba diving; in fact, he is a PADI-certified rescue diver. “I’ve been on a dive trip where a fellow diver developed the bends, and he was having seizures and other issues because of that. My wife and I were able to stabilize him until he got medical attention—great use of that extra training!”
