About Eric
Dr. Eric Jernigan is a dedicated general surgeon at Roaring Fork Surgery, where he brings a wealth of experience and a patient-centered approach to his practice. He completed his undergraduate studies at Georgetown University before earning his medical degree from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. Dr. Jernigan refined his surgical skills during his residency at Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan, where he was honored as Resident Teacher of the Year for multiple consecutive years.
"My time in New York City and at Shock Trauma in Baltimore taught me invaluable lessons about critical care," Dr. Jernigan reflects. "Those fast-paced environments taught me how to navigate high-pressure situations and make swift, effective decisions.”
At Roaring Fork Surgery, Dr. Jernigan specializes in a wide range of procedures, including operations related to trauma, breast, the gastrointestinal tract, hernias and abdominal wall reconstruction. He is particularly adept at minimally invasive techniques, including robotic-assisted laparoscopic surgery using the advanced Da Vinci Xi robot.
Dr. Jernigan's time in North Carolina profoundly influenced his approach to patient care. "I believe it’s essential to listen and show kindness," he emphasizes. Dr. Jernigan grew up Crested Butte, Colorado and is passionate about the great outdoors. In his free time, he enjoys fly fishing, hiking, mountain biking and skiing.
