Valley View volunteer Trish Hettinger awarded Presidential Volunteer Service Award

Trish Hettinger, a Glenwood Springs resident, was recently awarded the Presidential Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) for her volunteerism at Valley View Hospital.
Trish has provided more than 4,000 service hours to Valley View Hospital. Currently she volunteers three days a week at the front information desk. She has been instrumental at welcoming patients with a warm and welcoming smile, and helps to create informational binders, hospital directories and other helpful tools for volunteers to use. Trish was also an impactful contributor to the start of Valley View’s Heeling Partner dog therapy program. Trish and her dog, Fina, were one of the first dog therapy teams at Valley View. She continued to help certify other teams throughout the valley until Fina’s passing in 2019.
Trish was nominated for the Presidential Service Award by volunteer coordinator Kati Ledall. “Trish is an amazing volunteer who has dedicated so much of her time to our patients and our community,” says Katie. “She has such a big heart and is truly deserving of this recognition. We are so proud and happy to have her as a part of our Valley View team!”
The Presidential Service Award begin in 2003 as a way to recognize the important role of volunteers in America’s national identity. This award honors individual whose service positively impacts communities in every corner of the nation and inspires those around them to act, too.
The Presidential Volunteer Service Award was presented to Trish by Valley View CEO, Dr. Brian Murphy, and includes a presidential medal and signed certification from President Joe Biden.

I congratulate you on taking it upon yourself to contribute to the public good, and I’m proud to present you with the Present’s Lifetime Achievement award in recognition of your 4,000 hours of serve to this great Nation,” signed by President, Joseph R. Biden.
