Valley View Welcomes Bob Etemad, MD to the Gastroenterology Center at Valley View

The Gastroenterology Center at Valley View is pleased to welcome Bob Etemad, MD, a multi-board-certified, advanced interventional endoscopist, to the team. The Gastroenterology Center is the region’s trusted resource for digestive health and has the highest expertise between Denver and Grand Junction.

Dr. Etemad earned his medical degree from Temple University Lewis Katz School of Medicine and completed his residency in internal medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. He completed two fellowships, one in gastroenterology at the University of Pennsylvania and a fellowship in advanced endoscopy at the Medical University of South Carolina.

He received the Surgical Teaching Award from the Lankenau Medical Center and has been elected as a member of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the American Gastroenterology Association and the American College of Gastroenterology, among others.

Prior to joining Valley View, Dr. Etemad held positions as medical director of endoscopy at Main Line Health and director of interventional endoscopy at Jefferson University Hospital and clinical associate professor of medicine at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. He also served as chief of gastroenterology and hepatology at Ochsner Clinic Foundation. Well known in his field for his expertise and rigorous training, Dr. Etemad has been named to more than a dozen faculty and hospital positions and was named to “Best Doctors” lists in both New Orleans and Philadelphia.

“We are honored to welcome Dr. Bob Etemad to our team at the Gastroenterology Center at Valley View,” said Brian Murphy, MD, CEO of Valley View. “His unparalleled expertise as a multi-board-certified, advanced interventional endoscopist, combined with his passion for patient-centered care, makes him a great addition to our team.”

At Valley View, Dr. Etemad joins an established, experienced team of providers at the Gastroenterology Center, including Eric Gochanour, MD.

“I am so happy to be in Glenwood Springs and work with a collaborative team,” says Dr. Etemad. “Dr. Gochanour has been supporting patients with hepatology and liver issues and we can now enhance support for pancreatic and bile duct disease and gastrointestinal cancers and create more comprehensive digestive care options for our community.”

At Valley View, Dr. Etemad handles complex interventional endoscopy procedures and is often able to resolve issues without the need for invasive surgery. Some of the interventional procedures he performs include endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), cryotherapy and other ablations, luminal stenting, EDGE procedures and other interventional EUS techniques such as guided gallbladder drainage, gastrojejunostomies and EndoFLIP, among others.

Dr. Etemad is a strong advocate for the prevention of cancer and has a practice focus to protect those dealing with intestinal diseases. He works to raise community awareness of colon cancer screening, ensures patients are familiar with their family history and recommends those with a history to meet with geneticists as a part of colorectal cancer prevention.

Dr. Etemad is now welcoming new patients at the Gastroenterology Center at Valley View. Patients may call 970.384.7510 to learn more or schedule an appointment.
