Mirroring its dedication to supporting the Roaring Fork Valley community and beyond, ValleyOrtho at Valley View is now the exclusive healthcare sponsor of Roaring Fork Lacrosse Club (RFLC).
ValleyOrtho, home to some of the world’s top surgeons and providers, is committed to being the trusted leader in innovative, quality-focused, comprehensive musculoskeletal care in Aspen, the Roaring Fork Valley and beyond.
How Did This Sponsorship Come About?
Ferdinand “Tito” Liotta, MD, orthopedic surgeon for ValleyOrtho, has been personally involved with the RFLC since its inception. His triplets were part of the original 10 middle school members of the team and spent many seasons playing on the field at RFLC, also known as “The Swarm.” Through his great memories as team physician of RFLC, Dr. Liotta knew that the club was an important, upstanding part of the community, and that ValleyOrtho would be proud to be a part of it. Even now that his sons are off to college, Dr. Liotta and his family continue their involvement as coaches and sponsors.
“Lacrosse is an amazing game that is playable by athletes of all skills and sizes. It is an all-body sport that promotes health and fitness, teamwork, sportsmanship and commitment to your teammates. I have been so proud to support this organization since its inception and I am thrilled that ValleyOrtho will be the exclusive medical sponsor of the RFLC. Go Swarm!” said Dr. Liotta. “At ValleyOrtho, we are proud to contribute to this culture and support RFLC, a mainstay in the Roaring Fork Valley community.”
Who is Roaring Fork Lacrosse Club?
A nonprofit organization that celebrated its 10-year anniversary in 2021, RFLC provides the youth of the Roaring Fork Valley with the opportunity to learn and participate in the fastest growing sport of lacrosse.
What started with 16 middle-school boys in 2010 with founder Joseph Lang, operations manager and super mom Cailen Hollenback and coach Trip Sutro, quickly exploded into a program serving over 300 lacrosse students/athletes ranging from kindergarten through 8th grade in 2021 with spring, summer and fall programs. Athletes come from Basalt, Carbondale, Glenwood Springs, and beyond.
RFLC also serves as a feeder program for the high school lacrosse teams which represent the district – the boys team at Glenwood Springs High School and girls team at Roaring Fork High School.
“We are absolutely thrilled to build this partnership with ValleyOrtho at Valley View,” stated Joseph Lang, founder and president or RFLC. “Our goals are simple in providing a healthy and safe environment for student-athletes to promote physical fitness and teamwork, while promoting leadership, accountability and building lasting relationships through the sport of lacrosse, which aligns perfectly with the family and team culture of ValleyOrtho.”
“We look forward to creating new outreach programs with ValleyOrtho around the sport of lacrosse focused on health, nutrition, fitness and proper training techniques over the coming seasons,” Lang continued.
