for creating and storing urine, which is disposed of by the urethra (another
part of the UT system). Urinary cancer affects both men and women and

to the American Cancer Society, men are at higher risk for bladder and

Types of Urinary Cancer
There are two main types of urinary tract cancers:

Causes
Doctors are unsure of the exact cause of urinary cancer, but we do know
it starts with a mutation of cells within the urinary tract system. When
these cells divide and grow, it can develop into a malignant tumor. According
to the American Cancer Society, about nine out of ten people are likely
to be affected by bladder cancer over the age of 55. Advanced age is a
contributing risk factor along with gender, race, infection, and one’s
overall health.
Symptoms
The most common signs and symptoms of urinary cancer include:
Blood in urine
Frequent urination
Pain when urinating
Lower back pain (not caused by injury)
Pelvic pain
Unexplained weight loss
Fatigue
Treatment Options
